About The Position

Registered Nurse – GI GU Surgical Unit – Part Time, Days. Bring your passion to Texas Health where we are Better+Together. Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Work hours: Part Time, (2) 12 hour shifts 6:45 AM -7:15 PM - Rotating Weekends/Holidays; Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations. Department highlights: Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth. Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. On August 10, the unit will initially open with 20 beds, with plans to expand to the full 36 beds later in the year. Patients may be admitted pre- or post-operatively, with an average length of stay of approximately five days. The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal, urology and colorectal surgeries. Opportunity to work on a brand-new unit in the beautiful Justin Tower. MAGNET facility. Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
