About The Position

Our 2 CUB Unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high-acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our 2 CUB Unit leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. The 2 CUB (Cardiac Universal Bed Model) Unit cares for Cardiac and Vascular patients, including those with CHF and those immediately post-op from heart bypass and valves. The unit operates on a Cardiac Universal Bed model, allowing care for Telemetry, PCU, ICU, and CV patients. Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for Telemetry, 1:3 for PCU, 1:2 for ICU, and 1:1 for CVICU. The unit has 20 beds and cares for immediate post-op or unstable ICU patients connected to specialized devices. Department specifics include skills leveling, caring for ICU devices such as Impella, IABP, CRRT, EKOS, and lumbar drain. The hospital boasts world-renowned surgeons, is a magnet hospital, and has an active Unit Based Council.

Requirements

Graduated from an Accredited Program
Specialized field of study should be nursing.
RN license.
Requires a min of 2 yrs of RN experience in ICU or PCU
Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
Understand hospital procedures and rules.
Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
