About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Cardiac Imaging performs stress testing, develops and evaluates patient care plans, and provides comprehensive patient assessment and data collection. This role involves close communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers, documenting patient health data, and providing individualized patient and family teaching. The nurse also contributes to the professional development of peers and students, delegates tasks, provides psychological support, and assists technical staff with procedures like contrast injection and drug administration. Participation in performance improvement activities, nursing research, and staying updated on practice trends are also key aspects of this position. Compliance with HIPAA regulations and assisting in patient transport are required.

Requirements

  • Nursing Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • BLS, ACLS certification
  • Solid Critical thinking skills
  • Must rotate sites in Highland Park, Gurnee and Glenview
  • On Call: One Saturday a month, 8 – 12 pm

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Stress testing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress testing
  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Evaluates patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient’s wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes.
  • Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs.
  • Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs.
  • Assesses patient’s cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly.
  • Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate.
  • Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
  • Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues.
  • Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education.
  • Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
  • Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research.
  • Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities.
  • Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
