About The Position

The Heart Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Universal Bed CUB Model unit, which encompasses Telemetry, Progressive Care, Intensive Care, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care. This fast-paced 24-bed unit cares for high-acuity cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from heart and lung procedures, advanced heart failure, and post-cath/EP interventions. The department is described as being full of driven, self-motivated, and continually learning individuals. The patient population includes heart, lung, and vascular patients. The unit utilizes SWAN Management. Patient ratios vary by acuity: TELE 1:4, PCU 1:3, ICU 1:2, and CVICU 1:1.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Accredited Program with a specialized field of study in nursing.
  • RN license.
  • BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
  • 2 years or more of RN ICU experience.
  • Vent Management, Drip, Device experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct patient assessments, recognizing health issues.
  • Create and implement care plans, assessing patient responses and adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Secure patient travel.
  • Understand patient needs in healthcare and help patients prevent issues.
  • Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
