About The Position

The Heart Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time night shift position in their Universal Bed CUB Model unit, which covers Telemetry, Progressive Care, Intensive Care, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care. The patient population includes individuals with heart, lung, and vascular conditions, post-procedural care, and advanced heart failure. This fast-paced 24-bed unit is staffed by driven, self-motivated, and continually learning individuals. The unit experiences heavy SWAN management and has patient ratios ranging from 1:4 (TELE) to 1:1 (ICVU).

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Accredited Program in nursing.
  • RN license.
  • BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
  • 2 years or more of RN ICU experience.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct patient assessments, recognize health issues, create care plans, and assess patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel.
  • Understand patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues.
  • Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show community service commitment.
