About The Position

The Heart Hospital - 1100 Allied Dr, Plano, 75093 Position: RN Cardiac Universal Bed CUB Unit (Tele + PCU + ICU + CVICU) Shift/Schedule – Full Time, Nights. 3x12, 6:45 PM- 7:15 AM. Requirement- Requires a min of 2 yrs of RN experience in ICU or PCU Our 2 CUB Unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high-acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our 2 CUB Unit leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. 2 CUB (Cardiac Universal Bed Model) Unit Patient Population: Cardiac and Vascular: CHF, Immediate post-op heart bypass and valves (Cardiac Universal Bed model: Care for Telemetry, PCU, ICU and CV patients) Patient Ratios: 1:4 (Tele); 1:3 (PCU); 1:2 (ICU); 1:1 (CVICU) Immediate post-op or unstable ICU patients connected to specialized devices Number of Beds: 20 beds Department Specifics: Skills leveling, Caring for ICU Devices (Impella, IABP, CRRT, EKOS, lumbar drain); World renown surgeons, magnet hospital, active Unit Based Council. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Requirements

  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • Requires a min of 2 yrs of RN experience in ICU or PCU
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
