About The Position

This 18-bed cardiac unit specializes in the care of both cardiac and vascular patients. The typical patient population found in the CCU includes but is not limited to patients with diagnosis of chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergency, pulmonary embolism and/or DVT, and patients that have had AAA repair and carotid endarterectomy. Our unit is an intermediate/step down unit. Our nursing staff work closely with both our cardiology and vascular teams to ensure exceptional care for our patients. Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support
  • ACLS Certification - within 180 Days (for Cardiac Tele and Critical Care units)
  • ACLS and PALS Certification - within 180 Days (for Emergency Department)
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – prior to independent chemotherapy administration Upon Hire (for Infusion/Oncology)
  • PALS Certification or PEARS or PALS Certification - within 180 Days (for Pediatrics)
  • ACLS - within 180 Days (for Surgical Services - PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU)
  • BLS required only (for Surgical Services - OR)
  • ACLS Certification - within 180 Days (for Women’s Services - Labor and Delivery)
  • NRP by the end of orientation period (for Women’s Services - Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, Nursery)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date (for Women’s Services - Labor and Delivery)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable
  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred (for Dialysis)
  • PALS certification (for Experienced Emergency Department nurses)

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs.
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
