RN ASSESSMENT COORDINATOR
About The Position
The Psychiatric Assessment Nurse is a Registered Nurse who provides nursing care to patients utilizing the admission process. The Assessment Nurse is primarily responsible for reviewing labs to ensure medical appropriateness for potential admissions. The Assessment Nurse is also responsible for evaluating all unstable patients who present to the facility and coordinate disposition with the Physician and Unit Charge Nurse. The Assessment Nurse is also responsible for completing the admission process including Intake assessments, communicating with financial counselors regarding financial issues, and assisting with the nursing assessment review. Hill Crest Behavioral Health is an acute care, 194 bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Birmingham, AL, providing mental health services for adolescents and adults.
Requirements
- Current license as a RN in the State of Alabama required.
- MUST HAVE availability to attend an 8- business day Orientation from 8a-4p without interruptions.
- Must be computer literate and have excellent clerical skills.
- Handle with Care and CPR certified.
Nice To Haves
- Additional licensure as a LICSW, LMSW, LPC, ALC, etc. a plus.
- Ability to provide orientation and continuing education with co-workers
- 3 years experience in Intake, psychiatric setting (outpatient or inpatient) and crisis intervention, preferred
- The ability to establish rapport quickly via telephone or in person
- Experience in insurance benefits verification and admission, pre-certification, preferred
- Familiar with medical and psychiatric terminology/psychotropic medications, preferred
Responsibilities
- Reviewing labs to ensure medical appropriateness for potential admissions.
