Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute (OHJOI) is seeking an RN, Advanced Care for their OHJOI Pre Op / PACU unit. This is a Pool (PRN) position. The role requires critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high-intensity interventions, and high-level continuous nursing vigilance. The nurse will utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence, adapting to rapidly changing patient conditions. They will identify and prioritize information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action. Responsibilities include monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment, interpreting and recording electronic displays, responding to life-saving situations, observing and assessing patients' conditions, and calling for physician assistance or taking emergency measures when necessary. The nurse will assess patient needs, develop/revise individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient progress. They will also function as a patient and family advocate, demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills for age-appropriate care, and may serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician. Collaboration with the medical staff and interdisciplinary team is essential for effective care planning and management. The role involves serving as a role model, supporting hospital and nursing department goals, and demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles. Coordination and delegation of care to team members for a defined group of patients, and accurate documentation of patient care are also key responsibilities. Competency in nursing skills and equipment use, prioritizing patient care based on evidence-based standards, and effective problem-solving are expected. The nurse will delegate tasks appropriately, communicate patient condition information, and foster a compassionate and therapeutic environment. Awareness of legal issues and patients' rights, and collaboration with the education department for new team member support are also part of the role. The position requires reasonably regular, punctual attendance and compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Additionally, the professional nurse contributes to knowledge sharing, participates in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, mentoring, and coaching. Efficient use of supplies, maintaining a clean work area, attending staff development and meetings, and partnering with leadership for professional development needs are also expected. The nurse assumes responsibility for their own professional development and continuing education.
