About The Position

This hands-on, diverse Med-Surg nursing role involves providing direct patient care and coordinating care for patients in an acute trauma setting. The nurse is expected to bring clinical skill, empathy, compassion, mental toughness, and strong attention to detail while engaging with patients and their families.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate care touchpoints for patients.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
Maintain and advocate for a safe environment.
Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and appropriate care team members about significant events, changes in patient condition, and questions or concerns.
Prevent and treat wounds.
Monitor and carry out Joint Commission infection control and environment-of-care requirements.
Promote continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience.
Consult with a supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be completed promptly, effectively, or safely.
Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
Assist other team members without being asked.
