About The Position

Med-Surg nursing is the backbone of every hospital. This role requires unwavering passion, mental toughness, a heart of gold, and strong nursing skills. The position involves being on the front line of care, getting to know patients as individuals, and attending to all aspects of patient care, including medical needs, team requests, family requests, and charting. The role demands a wide range of nursing skills and offers a dynamic work environment with "never-a-dull-moment" opportunities. The position is a hands-on, diverse nursing role.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
Current PALs certification.
Minimum 1 year of experience for a flex RN position.

Nice To Haves

2 years of experience in a related clinical area.

Responsibilities

Prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating all care touchpoints for patients.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
Maintaining and advocating for a safe environment for everyone.
Monitoring and engaging with patients, families, and care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.
Preventing and treating wounds.
Monitoring and executing Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
Ensuring continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional patient experience.
Advising and consulting with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
Initiating patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
Assisting others without being asked to contribute to the team.
