About The Position

We are seeking a Project Engineering Intern for our Ready Mix team for Summer 2027 who is passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning June 1, 2027. This internship will be based at our site in Plano, TX with opportunities to travel to various local construction/aggregate sites throughout the program.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Industry Management, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience and firsthand knowledge of our business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into the operational procedures, production/maintenance activities, and product knowledge at our sites.
  • Learn about and assist in the optimization of concrete mix designs to meet project specifications for strength, durability, and workability.
  • Assist in the testing and inspection of concrete samples, such as slump tests, compression tests, and air content measurements, to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Work alongside site supervisors to monitor concrete pouring operations, ensuring adherence to mix specifications, placement techniques, and curing practices.
  • Assist in the development of strategies to reduce waste and improve energy efficiency in the production process.
  • Collect and analyze data, identify process correlations, and contribute to the development of strategies for ongoing projects.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals.
  • At the end of your internship, you'll present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team.
