The Pump Panel Mechanical Designer will utilize CAD and SolidWorks software to aid in the design, development, and sustainment of municipal fire apparatus pump panels. They will closely coordinate with purchasing, production leadership, engineering, and post sales to ensure vehicles are built to meet customer and industry requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience using CAD and SolidWorks software required.
  • Able to read and interpret scientific and technical documents.
  • Able to actively participate discussions by listening and asking relevant questions.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Basic math functions and accounting abilities with a high aptitude for accuracy.
  • Able to work within SolidWorks, CAD, and PDM.
  • Able to perform intermediate PC functions in Microsoft Office including the use of spreadsheet tables and formulas.
  • Able to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to understand and apply engineering development process.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in mechanical Drafting or Design preferred.
  • Experience in PDM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs pump panels on computer using solid works program.
  • Read and interpret specifications book to create panel.
  • Physically takes measurements of trucks to ensure the panel with be workable.
  • Send completed works to metal fabrication to be created.
  • Create models as needed to have in inventory for later use.
  • Works with Project Managers when issues arise for customer approval.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
