About The Position

The Riverbed SME serves as the senior technical authority for Riverbed performance monitoring, digital experience management, and network visibility platforms across the enterprise environment. This position is responsible for the engineering, administration, optimization, cybersecurity compliance, and lifecycle management of Riverbed technologies, excluding SteelHead WAN optimization appliances. The Riverbed SME will operate within and support multiple classified and unclassified environments, including NIPR, SIPR, and SOCRATES, ensuring secure, compliant, and highly available performance monitoring capabilities across J6 mission systems. The position will manage and support Riverbed AppResponse, NetProfiler, Portal, Aternity, and NPM+, as deployed. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek’s performance on the contract, and therefore RavenTek’s mission to support the customer.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Riverbed AppResponse, NetProfiler, Portal, Aternity, and NPM+, Riverbed architecture, and performance monitoring best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Network Performance Monitoring (NPM), networking, firewalls, routing, and packet analysis.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux server administration and experience with VMware or other virtualization platforms, storage, backups, data export/import, and disaster recovery.
  • Basic to intermediate scripting skills using PowerShell, Python, and Bash for automation of routine tasks; experience with REST API integrations and regular expressions.
  • Demonstrated ability in performance optimization, system engineering processes, troubleshooting, and interoperability across integrated technologies.
  • Ability to autonomously prioritize and successfully deliver across a portfolio of projects while working effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for engineers, managers, senior leaders, and stakeholders.
  • TS/SCI clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting large enterprise network environments in the DoD space, including classified and unclassified multi-enclave architectures such as NIPR and SIPR.
  • Experience with Splunk, ServiceNow, SQL databases, or similar enterprise tools and familiarity with common enterprise IT platforms and event-management workflows.
  • One of the following certifications are required: SecurityX/CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, FITSP-O, GFACT.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, engineer, administer, optimize, and lifecycle-manage Riverbed monitoring technologies across NIPR, SIPR, and SOCRATES enclaves, ensuring stable, compliant, highly available services.
  • Serve as service owner, technical lead, and senior technical authority for Riverbed; define the service roadmap, apply industry best practices, and provide input into enterprise infrastructure architecture designs.
  • Design secure, scalable Riverbed monitoring architectures and enclave-specific data flows for hybrid, virtual, and physical environments, including RHEL and Windows platforms, while ensuring cross-domain and enclave segmentation compliance.
  • Install, configure, migrate, maintain, patch, upgrade, back up, and troubleshoot Riverbed and integrated technologies; validate disaster recovery and maintain system health, performance tuning, RBAC, and auditing policies.
  • Integrate and automate Riverbed with SIEM, ITSM, cybersecurity, and enterprise monitoring platforms, including event-alert-incident correlation and REST/API-based integrations as applicable.
  • Provide Tier II/III engineering support, root cause analysis, incident response, and war-room troubleshooting for application, network, endpoint, server, and data-collection issues.
  • Analyze application, network, and endpoint performance trends; identify latency, packet loss, and user-impacting conditions; tune thresholds and monitoring policies to reduce noise and proactively prevent incidents.
  • Design and maintain tailored monitoring solutions, executive dashboards, mission-impact assessments, operational reports, SOPs, engineering diagrams, runbooks, and other technical documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards and STIG requirements; support ATO lifecycle documentation, security control validation, vulnerability scanning, remediation, patch cycles, and enclave-specific hardening baselines.
  • Support configuration management and Change Control Boards (CCB), including standardization of Riverbed deployment, configuration, maintenance, and approved changes across supported platforms.
  • Coordinate with Network, Cybersecurity, Systems, Application, change/incident management, and other stakeholders; brief senior leadership on system health, trends, and risk posture and serve as a technical liaison between contractor teams and government leadership.
  • Mentor junior administrators and engineers, participate in cross-functional workgroups, and contribute to continual service improvement through review and refinement of processes and procedures.
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Submit Monthly Status Reports (MSRs) as required by manager.
  • Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least three times per week, and respond accordingly.
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
