About The Position

The Risk Manager position at Texas Health Cleburne is a full-time role focused on analyzing, interpreting, and managing information related to patient safety and risk exposures. This role is crucial in addressing issues that affect the quality of care and patient outcomes. The position involves working independently and collaboratively with hospital managers, the executive team, and system peers, utilizing a Press Ganey High Reliability approach to Patient Safety and Risk Management. The role requires promoting patient satisfaction, reducing litigation, documenting and responding to complaints, and minimizing liability claims, sentinel events, and near misses. The Risk Manager will also be responsible for reporting and presenting data to leadership, fostering open dialogue about risk, and promoting a safe, just culture. This includes documenting, classifying, and tracking risks and adverse events, responding to reported risks, and utilizing learning tools to identify and address patient safety exposures. The role also involves facilitating the Risk Management Program, engaging in the Patient Safety Program to develop error reduction strategies, and collaborating with hospital departments and committees.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
3+ years clinical experience in acute care setting required
Other appropriate clinical licensure for discipline upon hire required (RN)

Nice To Haves

3 +years risk management, quality management, legal or patient safety preferred
CPHR – Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management upon hire preferred
Leadership experience preferred
Ability to analyze, interpret and manage information
Proficient in Excel, Power point, MS Teams, RL reporting tool, CMS Reporting and One Recall preferred

Responsibilities

Analyze, interpret and manage information and communicate with various professional and regulatory customers.
Promote patient satisfaction and reduce the likelihood of litigation.
Document and respond to complaints and grievances.
Demonstrate ability to reduce liability claims, sentinel events, near misses, and the overall cost of the organization’s risk.
Report and present information to hospital leaders/executive team on quantifiable and actionable data.
Promote open and spontaneous dialogue about risk.
Promote a safe, just culture.
Documenting, classifying, tracking possible risks and adverse events, and protocols for mandatory reporting.
Respond to reported risks and events including acute response, follow-up, reporting, and repeat failure prevention.
Utilize the reliability learning tool (including actual events, near misses, and general safety concerns) and recognizes and addresses patient safety/risk exposures affecting the quality of care and outcomes.
Make medical staff quality review referrals as appropriate.
Utilize statistical and other methods to aggregate, analyze and prepare data reports for presentation.
Facilitate the Risk Management Program including identification, analysis, planning and implementation focusing on events which resulted or could have resulted in adverse risk or a compromise to patient or environmental safety.
Actively engage in the Patient Safety Program developing effective medical error reduction strategies and tools.
Work in collaboration with hospital departments and committees to implement identified needs for improvement.
Serve as risk management representative for committees within the Continuous Quality/Patient Safety and Risk Management programs.
