Major Duties Under the general supervision of the Risk Manager, the Risk Management Professional supports the administration of the University’s insurance compliance program. The incumbent supports insurance compliance, special event coverage, vendor documentation, premium payments, and administrative processes by coordinating with campus and external partners, maintaining records, identifying discrepancies, and referring nonstandard or higher-risk situations for review through established procedures. Supports administration of the University’s insurance compliance program for CSUN purchases and contracted services, including public works contracts by applying established CSU guidelines, requirements, and procedures. Secures and reviews certificates of insurance and endorsements for completeness and conformance with established CSU insurance requirements and applicable Executive Orders; identifies discrepancies and follows established procedures to obtain required documentation. Contacts insurance brokers and insurance providers to obtain the required insurance documents. Maintains a database of vendor insurance documentation including vendor, insurance broker, insurance provider, insurance coverages, dates of coverage, and limits information. Works with external groups and CSUN student organizations to review their events, gather event information, identify applicable insurance requirements using established guidelines, and coordinate required insurance coverage for the safety of the event holder, attendees, and CSUN; refers nonstandard or higher-risk situations to the Risk Manager for review. Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of insurance compliance requirements, CSU guidelines, Executive Orders, certificates of insurance, endorsements, coverage limits, insurance renewals, and documentation standards applicable to university purchases and contracted services.
  • Ability to review insurance documents for completeness, identify discrepancies, communicate effectively with brokers, providers, vendors, and purchasing personnel, maintain accurate databases, gather information for exception reviews, and coordinate Independent Contractor Waivers.
  • Knowledge of special event insurance programs, applicable coverage requirements, established procedures, event-related risk considerations, insurance premiums, and posting processes.
  • Ability to collaborate with external groups and CSUN student organizations, gather event information, identify applicable insurance requirements, coordinate coverage, recognize nonstandard or higher-risk situations, maintain detailed records of events, payments, and ensure accurate posting to accounts.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet, databases, and CSU Buy.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
