About The Position

This role is responsible for designing, organizing, coordinating, and implementing the Risk Management Program to control and minimize loss, thereby protecting the organization's human, physical, and fiscal assets. The position involves active participation in performance improvement data collection and activities to ensure the highest quality of healthcare. The Risk Management Manager collaborates with personnel responsible for safety and security, participates in related risk activities, and provides assistance with claims investigation, management, and litigation. This role also facilitates the reporting of safety data/events, evaluates risk management programs through data analysis and trend identification, and presents findings to committees. Additionally, the manager assists in developing and implementing initiatives, policies, and procedures for risk reduction, including staff education, and oversees the grievance process. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is key for problem identification and resolution, cost containment, and the implementation of new services, systems, and performance measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or healthcare related field preferred.
  • Fellow or Diplomat of American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), preferred.
  • Five years clinical and/or management experience in a multidisciplinary health care setting.
  • Minimum of two years of Risk Management experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Experience in risk management and/or professional liability claims management preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about current State Laws and Regulations as applicable to facility.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating risk management program(s) through data capture, follow-up, and trend analysis.
  • Presenting findings to appropriate committees.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of initiatives, policies, and procedures regarding risk reduction/elimination.
  • Overseeing the grievance process.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services and systems/performance measures.
