Requirements

  • Florida health care license in nursing or other related specialty clinical field preferred, completion from an approved Florida Department of Insurance Risk Management course (to be obtained within 2 1/2 years)
  • Green belt and Six sigma black belt designation
  • Health care professional with experience in acute risk management
  • Minimum of three years managerial experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required as well as Quality Management

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred in a Health or Business related field

Responsibilities

  • In cooperation and coordination with the WRMC Director of Risk Management, is responsible for identification, risk evaluation and coordination of corrective action implementation related to risk issues.
  • Provides and/or coordinates intervention and education related to risk management issues to promote safe work practices and quality care and services; in an environment that is beneficial to the safety, health and well-being of all patients, visitors and hospital staff.
  • Coordinates risk programs with hospital departments, administration.
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring methods to avoid, eliminate and/or reduce risk situations associated with the provision of patient care and services.
  • Responsible for local claims management activities to include coordination with corporate claims and legal departments as well as any local attorneys retained to manage hospital medical malpractice activities.
  • These activities include staff identification for attorney interviews, deposition preparation, and deposition attendance as appropriate.
  • Responsible for assisting with the facility wide patient complaint/grievance process.
  • Duties as assigned.
