About The Position

Under general direction, administers assigned property, casualty, nuclear, and other risk financing and insurance programs for Pinnacle West Capital Corporation and its subsidiaries. Evaluates exposures, analyzes risk treatment alternatives, supports insurance placement and renewal activities, and provides technical consultation to business units, joint venture participants, and other stakeholders. Uses data, digital tools, and sound risk management judgment to improve the accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and governance of insurance and claims processes. Develops clear analyses, reports, and recommendations that support informed decisions, protect organizational assets, maintain reliable records and controls, and strengthen operational resilience.

Requirements

  • High school degree PLUS seven (7) years recent experience in underwriting commercial property and casualty insurance and/or corporate risk management OR Associates degree PLUS five years experience OR BS/BA degree PLUS three years experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance and risk management principles

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting and administering corporate insurance programs.
  • Knowledge of contractual risk transfer, certificates of insurance, and commercial insurance policy language.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, executive summaries, or data visualizations and improving business processes through workflow tools, automation, or other approved digital solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications and data analysis or visualization tools.

Responsibilities

  • Administers assigned property, casualty, nuclear, and other insurance and risk financing programs.
  • Supports renewal and placement activities by gathering, validating, analyzing, and presenting underwriting information.
  • Reviews policies, endorsements, binders, invoices, exposure information, and related documentation for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with approved coverage decisions.
  • Partners with business units, joint venture participants, and project teams to identify and evaluate insurable and non-insurable exposures.
  • Provides technical guidance on coverage requirements, certificates of insurance, contractual risk transfer, retention alternatives, and other risk treatment options within assigned authority.
  • Escalates complex, unusual, or high-risk matters as appropriate.
  • Maintains reliable insurance, exposure, claims, premium, and financial data in approved systems and records.
  • Develops reports, dashboards, trend analyses, and summaries to improve visibility into program costs, exposures, claims activity, and risk trends.
  • Identifies opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve insurance and claims processes using approved digital tools, workflow automation, data visualization, and responsible use of approved artificial intelligence capabilities.
  • Considers business needs, data quality, controls, security, documentation, and long-term support requirements before recommending solutions.
  • Prepares, validates, allocates, and tracks insurance-related financial information, including premiums, claims costs, fees, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Investigates discrepancies and maintains supporting documentation for approvals, financial controls, and audit readiness.
  • Coordinates and tracks loss control visits, engineering reviews, inspections, and recommendations required by insurance contracts or risk management programs.
  • Monitors findings, ownership, responses, and completion status, and communicates material issues to management.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and accessible program documentation in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, records retention, information security, financial control, and internal governance requirements.
  • Supports audits, regulatory inquiries, and management reviews as assigned.
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance market conditions, emerging risks, regulatory developments, and risk management practices.
  • Applies new knowledge to strengthen programs, processes, controls, and stakeholder service.
