About The Position

As an intern at Northern Trust, you will have the opportunity to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development. You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining internship program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders, and connect with fellow interns in the program. Through hands-on experience, meaningful project work, and exposure to a dynamic global business, you will begin to see how your interests can grow into a long-term career at Northern Trust. A recruiter will work with you to determine the best team placement given your interests, skill set, and relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college/university, majoring in Finance, Economics, Data Science & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Management Information System, Business Management and Administration, Mathematics, and Computer Science, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Some knowledge of risk and compliance principles, usually acquired through coursework or prior related experience, and are curious to learn more.
  • Curious about financial markets and interested in learning more about the financial services industry markets, business operations, administration, data, and execution of a globally systemic important bank.
  • Proven analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills through coursework and/or previous internship experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and extracurricular involvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, results driven based on time sensitive deliverables, time management skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Responsibilities

  • Complete, compile, and present high-quality summaries of findings, insights, and recommendations in a concise and professional manner.
  • Analyze risk, control, and operational data to develop reporting, dashboards, and metrics that support risk monitoring and decision-making.
  • Support Risk project teams in the implementation and enhancement of risk frameworks, controls, governance processes, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Leverage data analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies to improve risk management processes and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with business, risk, and control stakeholders to identify process improvements and support enterprise risk objectives.
  • Develop professional skills related to an assigned area of Risk through project work, mentorship, and business unit engagement.
