About The Position

First MainStreet Insurance (FMSI), a TrueNorth entity, is seeking a Risk Advisor responsible for generating growth within First MainStreet Insurance and helping individuals, businesses and organizations manage and mitigate risks. Risk Advisors will do so by prospecting, networking, producing, and educating themselves within the insurance industry. Risk Advisors will work closely with an Account Manager to help assist with their client base and manage growth expectations. A Risk Advisor is also responsible for the renewal retention of existing accounts. As part of First Mainstreet Insurance, the Risk Advisor will be a key member of an exceptional, resourceful, and collaborative High-Performance Team (HPT). Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Risk Advisor/Producer, customer relationship management, or sales
  • Must be and/or expectation to become licensed in P&C within 30 days, if not already
  • Proficient in utilizing service management software and tools like EPIC
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • Experience with the insurance industry terminology and documentation
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and present insurance-related data
  • The primary language of First MainStreet is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to actively listen for total comprehension, ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic, and relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be necessary from time to time.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time, view a computer monitor, and type (up to 8 hours a day).
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for business based on your local networks, connections, and communities
  • Retain clients by maintaining solid a High-Performance Team (HPT) structure
  • Conduct sales, service, and seek all forms of insurance business utilizing the trained strategies taught by First MainStreet
  • Obtain new accounts by actively pursuing prospects and creating interest through trained prospecting methods
  • Develop accounts and cross-sell available products and services by introducing to appropriate specialists
  • Maximize growth and client retention through superior customer relationships and follow-up calls to clients
  • Generate and pursue new client opportunities and immediately follow-up on client referrals
  • Marketing of insurance risks to companies in accordance with the practices, policies, and procedures of the company
  • Market all lines of commercial insurance and directly impact revenue goals through the acquisition of new business and the retention of renewals
  • Work with the Account Managers to complete pre-underwriting, information gathering, submissions, coverage analysis, and proposal presentations if needed
  • Effectively build relationships with insurance company underwriters through a pattern of professional risk submissions, company visitations, and negotiations
  • Maintain superior knowledge of market underwriting appetite, line of business trends, insurance company changes, rating technique, and coverage development.
  • Accurately maintain prospects, new, and renewal business in the agency management system (EPIC) to allow for proper analysis of trends when gaining or losing business
  • Present First MainStreet Insurance services and solutions at prospect meetings
  • Increase industry and job knowledge as measured by attendance at continuing education, obtaining, or updating designations, and participation in other agency training offerings
  • Travel or visit clients when necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and carrier information
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, appropriate to the position
