About The Position

The Carleton University Students Association (CUSA) is an incorporated, not-for-profit, student-run organization dedicated to enriching the undergraduate student experience through events, advocacy efforts, and services. This position is responsible for providing direction and coordination of the Centre’s activities, ensuring the service meets the needs of students. The role involves liaising with other organizations, advocating on behalf of International students and Carleton students at large on matters pertaining to race, ethnicity, and culture, and researching and creating innovative events to engage students. The coordinator will also be responsible for the planning and coordination of informational and educational events, daily maintenance of social media platforms, assisting in volunteer coordination, and maintaining office hours, organization, and office technology and space.

Requirements

  • Membership in the Carleton University Students’ Association (Taking at minimum .5 credits per semester).
  • Awareness and sensitivity to issues including but not limited to trans/bi/homophobia, sexism, racism, ableism, and ageism.
  • Established knowledge of Google Suite, and Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work unsupervised in groups or individually.
  • Quick learner who is organized and a self-starter who is passionate about the center's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and coordination of the Centre’s activities while ensuring that the service meets the needs of students.
  • Liaise with other organizations for information sharing and joint action.
  • Advocate on behalf of International students and Carleton students at large on matters pertaining to race, ethnicity, and culture.
  • Research and create innovative events to engage students on a larger scale.
  • Plan and coordinate informational and educational events, including (but not limited to): Black History Month, Culture Fest, Privilege Walk, Culture Talks, and other events and initiatives at least once per year.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of the center's social media platform(s) and applying techniques to grow the audience.
  • Assist in volunteer coordination and curating programming opportunities for volunteers to partake.
  • Maintain office hours, organization, and office technology and space. Retain and attend all scheduled office hours on-site.
