About The Position

The Recovery and Intervention Support and Education (RISE) Coordinator supports student success and wellbeing by providing non-clinical support through planning and implementing recovery-focused programming for students in the Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP), including peer support, service opportunities, social events, and academic success initiatives. The role serves as the primary point of contact for CRP students, provides resources for families and friends, and educates the campus community about recovery. As part of the RISE Center, the coordinator develops and oversees CRP programming, provides referrals when needed, trains and supervises peer mentors and interns, supports program assessment, and contributes expertise to campus prevention and recovery efforts with an emphasis on the Bystander Intervention Initiative of UNT, Protect Our Nest. The position also manages student records and databases, delivers professional customer service, and builds collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen recovery support and student development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
  • Experience in networking across departments and programs.
  • Experiences working with students from varied academic, social, and life experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing programming to young adult and/or populations in recovery from substance use, mental illness, and/or process addictions.
  • Understanding of multiple recovery pathways and the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides referrals for further care, as necessary.
  • Develops, plans, organizes, and schedules peer support groups, outreach, and community activities.
  • Maintains current knowledge of peer driven recovery best practices.
  • Provides training and supervision for Graduate Assistants, and Practicum students.
  • Performs regular evaluation of program service delivery.
  • Attends University/Division of Student Affairs trainings, workshops, and events.
  • Attends professional development opportunities regarding recovery practices.
  • Maintains appropriate business rapport with referral agencies and on-campus departments.
  • Demonstrates appropriate case management of student files and databases.
  • Completes special projects and assignments as necessary.
  • Reports to work at scheduled time. Honors lunch and break times as scheduled.
  • Works independently and/or with supervisor to provide substance use prevention education as needed for the UNT community.
  • Actively promotes the Bystander Intervention Initiative of UNT, Protect Our Nest.
