About The Position

We’re looking for positive and enthusiastic people from all backgrounds and levels of experience to monitor our ice rink warming shelters. This is a great opportunity for college students in the area to work during their winter break! Applicants should enjoy working outdoors and have excellent customer service skills. Shifts will consist of weekends, weeknights, no-school days, and holidays. The City operates under a Council-Administrator form of government, employing 300 regular full-time employees, and up to 400 seasonal and part-time employees. Requirements

Must be age 16 or older by the start of employment
Must be able to perform the essential job duties under the working conditions as described

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in winter outdoor facilities
Participation in activities, sports, clubs, or other groups
Ability to get to various work sites around the city
Ability to work a variety of hours throughout the winter months

Responsibilities

Greet and interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner
Represent site as the only staff on location for extended periods of time
Perform indoor and outdoor upkeep and maintenance: building/restroom cleaning, shoveling snow, moving hockey goals
Prevent/mediate/resolve conflicts that may arise during scheduled facility hours and respond to inquiries or concerns
Provide written and/or verbal reports on incidents and facility concerns
Escalate and communicate concerns appropriately to the scheduled Site Coordinator and/or Recreation Supervisor
Visually inspect and monitor the weather, ice, and facility conditions to ensure a safe environment
Maintain records of attendance and maintenance needs
