About The Position

This position is responsible for acquiring real property and property rights for public projects. The Right of Way Agent will negotiate with property owners, conduct research, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role involves managing all aspects of the right-of-way acquisition process, from initial contact to final settlement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in right-of-way acquisition or a related field.
  • Knowledge of real estate principles, property appraisal, and eminent domain laws.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents, maps, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • International Right of Way Association (IRWA) certification (e.g., SR/WA).
  • Experience with GIS software.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with property owners to acquire necessary real property and property rights for public projects.
  • Conduct research on property titles, appraisals, and legal descriptions.
  • Prepare and present offers to property owners.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to eminent domain and property acquisition.
  • Manage all aspects of the right-of-way acquisition process.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all acquisition activities.
  • Assist in the relocation of displaced persons or businesses, if necessary.
