About The Position

The Rigging Operations Manager position is responsible for supervision of drivers and rigging crews including job site management and customer interfacing. This role involves overseeing all activities of the rigging operation, from job site management to dispatching of crews, and developing, planning, and implementing schedules for the rigging crew in alignment with customer direction. The manager will direct the workforce to meet operational goals in terms of volume, cost, quality, safety, and schedule. This includes hiring, coaching, training, and managing the performance of the rigging crew using best management practices, and instructing them in best known rigging operation practices and procedures, including safety. The position also requires close collaboration with safety personnel on training, accident and injury investigations, and equipment damage incident investigations. Building strong customer and employee relationships through excellent interpersonal and communication skills is essential, as is developing highly effective relationships with customers, business partners, and crating operations management. The role involves effectively managing job site projects by organizing all project information and may participate in the selection of company vehicles and rigging equipment. Additionally, the manager is responsible for the purchase and upkeep of day-to-day rigging equipment and hand tools, developing programs to monitor and promote vehicle maintenance, driving safety, and control operating costs. The role requires active participation in leadership and management meetings, consistently demonstrating professional conduct, and gaining knowledge regarding industry and market information and trends. The manager will also work closely with the sales team to manage customer complaints and develop professional and technical knowledge through continuous learning. Local travel is required for client site meetings and management of dispatched crews.

Requirements

HS diploma or equivalent with continuing education in Business, Project or Construction Management or related degree a plus.
Minimum eight (8) years proven operations management experience or comparable field preferably within the construction, manufacturing or rigging industry.
Excellent interpersonal, management, supervisory and project management skills.
Highly self-directed and motivated.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Must be able to perform General Physical Activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and activities requiring moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or crouching.
May regularly lift items up to 80 pounds.
Frequently uses senses involving sight, smell, touch, and auditory.
May work off the ground at varying heights; must not be affected by flashing lights, noise, or moving machinery.
May perform occasional work in a warehouse or non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors over uneven terrain or with exposure to inclement weather.

Responsibilities

Participate with sales as needed on job walks and assist with customer bids/estimates to accurately price projects.
Responsible for all activities of the rigging operation from job site management to dispatching of crews.
Develops, plans and implements schedules for rigging crew in alignment with customer direction.
Directs workforce to meet operational goals in terms of volume, cost, quality, safety and schedule.
Directly supervises one or more superintendents, foreman, leads and dispatcher.
Hire, coach, train and manage the performance of rigging crew with best management practices.
Develop, train and instruct rigging crews in best known rigging operation practices and procedures including safety.
Work closely with safety personnel in coordinating safety training, accident and injury investigations and reporting and equipment or property damage incidents investigations and reporting.
Build customer and employee relationships with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Develop highly effective relationships with customers, business partners, crating operations management and support staff.
Effectively manage job site projects by organizing all project information to ensure they are accurate and contain all necessary information.
May participate in selection of company vehicles and asset rigging equipment.
Purchase and upkeep of the day-to-day rigging equipment and hand tools.
Develop programs to monitor and promote vehicle maintenance, driving safety, and to control operating costs.
Actively participate in MEI R & C leadership and management meetings.
Consistently demonstrates professional conduct representative of MEI corporate mission, vision and values.
Consistently gain knowledge regarding industry and market information and trends.
Work closely with the sales team to manage customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
