About The Position
Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Rigger for a project in Liberty, North Carolina. The role supports installation, rigging, millwrighting, and maintenance work for manufacturing and industrial markets across the Southeast. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits and paid time off after three months. Significant travel may be required.
Requirements
- Skilled in written and verbal communication.
- Complete all required SIC safety and general job training.
- Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
- Effectively use all required personal protective equipment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Safely access property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, elevated positions, and confined spaces.
- Safely operate all equipment and tools involved in the work.
- Be capable of standing for long periods, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts and workboats, and in awkward body positions.
- Meet the strenuous physical demands required to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
Responsibilities
- Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to the weight and size of loads to be moved.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
- Attach loads to crane hooks with grappling devices such as loops, wires, and chains.
- Direct crane operators who hoist and move loads, using hand signals, a loudspeaker, or a telephone to help ensure the safety of workers and materials.
- Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
- Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
- Coordinate equipment and material movement according to visual signals and directions.
- Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
- Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as required.
