About The Position

A craft person who has demonstrated competency through work experience and craft assessment testing to perform rigging duties. The role involves moving, lifting, jacking, blocking, and placing equipment or materials according to blueprints, designs, client specifications, and safety requirements, using hand and power tools. Other duties may be required as determined.

Requirements

Have the educational skills needed to perform the duties.
Pass the company pre-employment physical.
Pass pre-employment substance abuse requirements.
Pass job-related PFT and mask-fit testing requirements.
Work to job-specific requirements using required personal protective equipment.
Perform shop math and have knowledge of geometry.
Climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures.
Tolerate and work in enclosed areas and at high elevations.
Stoop, bend, walk, crawl, or crouch.
Handle, reach for, and manipulate objects, components, and materials.
Carry or lift objects and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Perform duties that may change often or be required as determined.

Responsibilities

Plan work and read and understand lift plans.
Calculate estimated weights of loads to be moved or lifted.
Check load charts to ensure lifting equipment is not overloaded.
Read drawings and sketches to ensure correct placement of materials and equipment.
Inspect rigging and tools daily.
Communicate with others and place barricades in areas where loads are moved or lifted.
Locate the center of gravity and jack points for loads to be moved or lifted.
Select slings, clamps, clevises, wires, ropes, cables, pulleys, sheaves, blocks, jacks, and chains appropriate to the load.
Attach rigging components to cranes or other lifting devices.
Place jacks, rollers, and blocks as needed when moving, lifting, or placing a load.
Install materials and equipment in place using bolts, clamps, and similar items.
Give hand and verbal crane signals to a crane operator.
Perform other duties as required.
