About The Position

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks a Rigger for a project in Bloomington, Indiana. The role involves selecting and setting up rigging equipment, attaching loads for crane movement, and coordinating with crane operators and other workers to move materials safely. Regular attendance is required, significant travel may be required, and the employee may perform other duties as required. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits and paid time off after three months.

Requirements

Skilled in written and verbal communication.
Complete all required SIC safety and general job training.
Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
Effectively use all required personal protective equipment.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Safely access properties, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, elevated positions, and confined spaces.
Meet the strenuous physical demands needed to safely perform the position's essential functions.
Safely operate all equipment and tools involved.
Stand for long periods, bend consistently, work in confined spaces with limited access, and work on ladders, in personnel lifts and workboats, and in awkward body positions.

Responsibilities

Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to the weight and size of loads to be moved.
Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
Attach loads to crane hooks using grappling devices such as loops, wires, and chains.
Direct crane operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads using hand signals, a loudspeaker, or a telephone to help ensure the safety of workers and materials.
Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
Coordinate the movement of equipment and materials according to visual signals and directions.
Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
Maintain regular attendance.
Perform other duties as required.
