About The Position

Southway Crane & Rigging LLC, is looking for qualified individuals to train and grow within the crane and rigging industry. A Rigger will have some knowledge of crane operations, basic math, and safety and accident prevention. The classroom portion of the program will last approximately 12 weeks. Classes will be Monday – Friday 8am- 5 pm. Following approximately 1 month of class; Fridays will be field days.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/ or GED
  • Driver’s License
  • TWIC card
  • Ability to pass drug screen/ background check

  • Some knowledge of crane operations
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of safety and accident prevention

Responsibilities

  • Determine a load's weight
  • Determine a load's center of gravity
  • Select proper sling and rigging hardware
  • Understand the effect of sling angles
  • Apply proper methods of safe load securing
  • Select proper hitches and their applications
  • Utilize standard hand and voice signal communications
  • Inspect rigging equipment
