About The Position

This internship position is designed to provide hands-on experience in performing reviews and analyses related to Medicaid engagements. The intern will assist in reviewing federal and state Medicaid policies and regulations concerning healthcare reimbursement and quality incentive programs. Research will be conducted to ensure compliance with government program regulations. The role involves working on specific projects with the goal of training and development, requiring punctuality, a solid understanding of the work environment, and the ability to articulate various client services. The intern will also respond to inquiries, strive to meet supervisor-established goals, and maintain a positive attitude. A key aspect of the role is gaining proficiency in administrative programs, spreadsheets, word processing, and policy research. Maintaining the security and confidentiality of protected health information and thorough electronic documentation are essential. Professional appearance and demeanor are expected, along with performing additional assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Intern must be working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or related field
  • Ability to gain computer proficiency related to administrative programs, spreadsheets, word processing, policy research and statutes (as applicable)
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Proficient use of applicable software programs, including Microsoft Office suite

  • Active participation in student organizations and work experience in related field a plus, but not required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing reviews/analyses relating to Medicaid engagements
  • Review applicable federal and state Medicaid policies and regulations relating to health care reimbursement and quality incentive programs
  • Conduct research to determine compliance with relevant Medicaid or other government program regulations
  • Perform all aspects of a specific project or work in progress with a goal to train or continue to train the incumbent
  • Possess and apply a solid understanding of the work environment; be punctual and present
  • Possess a general understanding while being able to articulate various services provided to clients
  • Respond to inquiries and requests
  • Strive to attain goals established by direct supervisors
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of all protected health information when analyzing material
