This internship position involves preparing component drawings and specifications for highly complex products that may be electro-optical, opto-mechanical, or electro-mechanical in nature. The intern will provide support to engineering and purchasing for part and material selection and procurement. This includes preparing nonstandard part and material submittals and interfacing with internal and external labs to interpret test results and define testing to ensure parts comply with requirements. The role requires effective communication with program engineers, management, and customers on technical issues and work status. The intern will present analysis results to program engineers and customers regularly to ensure proper interpretation and understanding. Additionally, the intern will act as a technical consultant in areas of expertise and perform technical reviews of material/component quality documentation, including supplier data and test results, to ensure conformance to stated requirements. The work is closely supervised, and the intern will follow established procedures and specific, detailed instructions or guidance from more senior functional staff.
