This internship position involves preparing component drawings and specifications for highly complex products that may be electro-optical, opto-mechanical, or electro-mechanical in nature. The intern will provide support to engineering and purchasing for the procurement and selection of parts and materials, prepare nonstandard part and material submittals, and interface with inside and outside labs to interpret test results and define testing to ensure parts comply with requirements. The role requires effective communication with program engineers, management, and customers on technical issues and work status, and regular presentation of analysis results. The intern will also act as a technical consultant in areas of expertise and perform technical reviews of material/component quality documentation, including supplier data and test results, to ensure conformance to stated requirements. Work is closely supervised, following established procedures and specific, detailed instructions or guidance from more senior functional staff.
