RF Software Engineer Level 3

SSATI•Hanover, MD
•$150,000 - $203,000•Onsite

About The Position

The RF Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems based on documented requirements, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithms, large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems. The engineer works independently or as part of a team, reviews and tests software components against design requirements, documents test results, resolves software problem reports, and applies software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment. The role contributes to system design through hardware/software trade-off analysis, software reuse, evaluation of COTS/GOTS solutions, and requirements analysis and synthesis. Work includes software design and implementation, algorithm development, integration, database interfaces and queries, testing, documentation, performance analysis, and installation coordination. Depending on the project, the engineer may lead or oversee development teams and perform quality control on team products. The program delivers Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) solutions to modernize and enhance Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) systems in response to evolving mission requirements. The team supports the full system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, procurement, integration, testing, cybersecurity, field deployment, training, operations, sustainment, and technical support. The position is based in the Hanover, Maryland area, and telework is not authorized. Candidates must already hold an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a polygraph; clearance sponsorship or nomination is not available.

Requirements

  • Currently possess an active Top Secret/SCI government security clearance with a polygraph; clearance sponsorship or nomination is not available.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or qualifying experience substitutions: four years of experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree; two years of experience may substitute with a Master of Science in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Twelve years of experience as a DSP algorithm developer.
  • Twelve years of experience with C++, Linux, Python, or a similar development language.
  • C++ experience must be within the last 10 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Active IAT II CWIP / DoD 8570-compliant certification, such as Security+.

  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features, correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Integrate software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Develop simple data queries and design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Develop or implement algorithms that meet or exceed system performance and functional standards, including algorithms with strict timing, resource, or interface constraints.
  • Assist with developing and executing software component test procedures; review and test components and document test results.
  • Analyze system performance, workflows, data usage, and problem areas to develop software solutions in consultation with users and system engineers.
  • Use scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the outcomes and consequences of software design.
  • Serve as team lead or oversee software development teams as appropriate to the project and development process.
  • Perform quality control on team products.
  • Confer with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and understand project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
