About The Position

As a Software Engineer Level 3 at Independent Software, you will design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting mission-critical operations. The role uses Java-based applications, distributed systems, databases, and containerized environments to deliver scalable, reliable, high-performing software. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, collaborate with technical teams, and provide technical leadership to support software quality, performance, and successful system integration. Requirements

Strong Java development experience.
Experience with Spring Boot.
Experience with MongoDB.
Experience with Apache Kafka.
Experience with Java Message Service (JMS).
Experience with Kubernetes.
Experience with Docker.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and practices.
Experience developing and maintaining complex software applications.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system integration, and application performance.
Experience with database interfaces, distributed systems, and complex algorithms.
Experience leading software development teams and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate polygraph.
Either a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus 12 years of Software Engineering experience on programs or contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, or 16 years of relevant Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance complex software systems and applications.
Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and performance requirements.
Develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot.
Design and integrate database interfaces, queries, and distributed messaging systems.
Develop and implement complex algorithms and improve software performance.
Integrate software components into new or existing systems and environments.
Troubleshoot defects, conduct testing, and ensure software quality.
Support containerized applications and automated software delivery processes.
Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and oversee software development activities.
Collaborate with system engineers and technical teams on system design, integration, and documentation.
