Apple•San Diego, CA

About The Position

Apple is hiring a Chip Passive Design Engineer for a group developing RF/AMS chips for Apple mobile devices. The role focuses on designing on-chip inductors, transformers, capacitors, transmission lines, filters, phase shifters, couplers, and other RF passive components. The engineer will coordinate the process from design through tape-out and collaborate with RF design, packaging design, CAD, and process teams. The position involves electrical and physical design of electromagnetic and microwave components and circuits. The engineer will contribute to architecting and developing future RF on-chip passives, owning work from circuit design, EM simulation, and physical layout through quality assurance for tape-out.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Deep knowledge of electromagnetic theory, microwave engineering, and antenna engineering.
  • Proficiency in EM passive design.
  • Familiarity with EM simulation tools such as HFSS, EMX, or Momentum.
  • Excellent academic background and industry-related work experience beyond graduate school studies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with on-chip EM modeling.
  • Familiarity with on-wafer measurement.
  • Experience using VNA, TDR, and LCR meters.

Responsibilities

  • Design on-chip inductors, transformers, capacitors, transmission lines, filters, phase shifters, couplers, and other passive components.
  • Coordinate the design-to-tape-out process.
  • Work with RF, packaging, CAD, and process engineering teams to architect and develop future RF on-chip passives.
