RF Modeling/Simulation Analyst

SAIC•Chantilly, VA

About The Position

SAIC is seeking an RF Modeling and Simulation Analyst to join its Air Force, Space and Intel Business Group, which provides program management, engineering, analysis, and operations support to Intelligence Community and Department of Defense customers. The role supports national security-related systems in space, in the air, and on the ground, with direct support to the community’s space situational awareness mission. In a collaborative, team-focused environment, the analyst will help prototype, design, and integrate tools for modeling and processing RF signals related to communications and radar applications. The work advances current and future concepts to inform missions and potential acquisitions. The analyst will develop algorithms, support modeling and simulation efforts, and apply RF knowledge and modeling skills to analyses and physics-based modeling for space mission applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field and nine or more years of experience; or a master’s degree and seven or more years of experience; or a PhD or JD and four or more years of experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance at the start of employment.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain the required polygraph.
  • Experience using scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mathematics background.
  • Intermediate Python programming experience; experience with NumPy, SciPy, pandas, and matplotlib is beneficial.
  • General understanding of orbit theory, orbit determination, and orbit propagation.
  • Previous experience supporting the Intelligence Community and/or Department of Defense.
  • Experience in data analysis and modeling of operational air or space systems, including assessing performance in current and projected operational environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with configuration management and version control tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain physics-based simulation models of RF systems for spacecraft and space domain awareness.
  • Conduct radio frequency sensor modeling and digital signal processing of radio frequency data.
  • Use scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar to automate workflows, perform data analysis, and interface between simulation tools.
  • Generate technical documentation, simulation reports, and visualizations to communicate findings and support design decisions.
  • Support trade studies and design reviews by providing modeling insights into performance impacts of design changes.
  • Prototype, design, and integrate tools for modeling and processing RF signals related to communications and radar applications.
  • Develop algorithms and support modeling and simulation efforts for space mission applications.
