About The Position

TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre, is seeking a motivated co-op student to support the installation and testing of a 1.3 GHz solid-state amplifier for the E-linac. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in RF engineering by assisting with system installation, integration, calibration, and troubleshooting, conducting RF measurements, and analyzing performance data. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a strong understanding of RF systems in a real-world accelerator engineering environment while collaborating with engineers on a high-impact technical project. TRIUMF's student program offers young minds a chance to gather, learn, make new friends, and have fun doing so during their time at TRIUMF. We hold weekly ProD sessions for students which include different activities such as conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and active listening. Additionally, we hold weekly seminars about the different experiments at TRIUMF, and these talks specifically cater to students. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of RF principles and related concepts.
  • Good hands-on skills for mechanical installation and experimental setup.
  • Familiarity with common laboratory test equipment, such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, such as Excel and Word, for documentation and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with scientific computing or simulation tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or Mathematica.
