RF Engineer

Anduril•Fort Collins, CO

About The Position

Anduril Industries is seeking an RF Engineer for its Battlespace Awareness Radar team. The team develops radar systems from ideation through initial production, and the role will contribute to active electronically scanned arrays (AESAs) for radar applications across program-dependent frequency bands. The engineer will work across the development lifecycle, from architecture definition and hardware design through bring-up, field testing, and initial production. The team owns antenna element design, RF front-end electronics, array integration, and test infrastructure. The role focuses on designing analog beamforming AESA subsystems, including transmit/receive modules, beamforming ICs, corporate feed networks, and front-end filtering. The engineer will perform trade studies, RF simulations, prototyping, and RF characterization; collaborate with antenna, digital, mechanical, and systems engineering; and support field tests. The position also involves troubleshooting hardware issues and driving root-cause resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience developing RF electronics, phased arrays, antennas, or related radar electronics.
  • Experience with electronic systems engineering, including design specification, part selection, and RF systems test planning.
  • Proficiency with RF design and analysis tools such as Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with PCB design, including schematic capture and specifying and reviewing layouts; experience with tools such as Altium.
  • Ability to break down complex problems and implement innovative solutions with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with RF measurement equipment, including network analyzers, signal analyzers, and near-field scanners.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar for design, simulation, and automated testing.
  • Demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in RF/Microwave Engineering.
  • Experience designing and testing active phased-array radar with beamforming technologies.
  • Knowledge of antenna array simulation, design, and manufacturing.
  • Experience with high-frequency RF and high-density-interconnect PCB technologies, such as microvias and multiple sub-laminations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop RF designs for analog beamforming AESA subsystems, including T/R modules, beamforming ICs, corporate feed networks, and front-end filtering.
  • Conduct trade studies, RF simulations, and prototyping to improve system performance.
  • Collaborate with antenna, digital, mechanical, and systems engineering to define array architectures that meet field-user needs.
  • Incorporate design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) considerations into system designs.
  • Drive RF characterization of AESA hardware, including near-field antenna range measurements, RFFE performance mapping, and system-level radar mode verification.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and drive root-cause investigations to closure.
  • Provide engineering support during field tests to demonstrate product capabilities to customers.
  • Contribute to radar development from architecture definition through hardware bring-up, field testing, and initial production.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
