RF Engineer

CACI International•Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
•$99,300 - $208,600

About The Position

CACI is seeking an RF Engineer to work with the Army’s premier signal intelligence research and development engineering team. The role focuses on applied RF research, experimental modeling, and empirical validation to develop solutions for national security challenges. The engineer will use bench instrumentation—including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and high-bandwidth oscilloscopes—to evaluate RF front ends, antennas, and mixed-signal architectures, troubleshoot hardware, and analyze test data to optimize wireless systems under real-world conditions. The position involves RF characterization, modeling and simulation, lab and field testing, antenna measurements, and outdoor propagation experiments. It requires a current TS/SCI clearance and at least seven years of prior work experience. The job is full time, with up to 10% travel within the continental United States.

Requirements

  • Current TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Seven years of previous work experience.
  • RF characterization engineering experience.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with antenna gain measurements and beam patterns.
  • Experience using an anechoic chamber.
  • Strong understanding of RF modulation types.

Nice To Haves

  • MATLAB experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-fidelity RF characterization models, link budget analyses, and simulations to predict system performance before hardware builds.
  • Characterize novel RF front ends, transceivers, and subassemblies across broad operational frequency ranges.
  • Correlate empirical laboratory and field measurement data with predictive models to refine simulations and system architectures.
  • Design, coordinate, and conduct RF experiments in an RF benchtop lab, anechoic chamber, and field environment.
  • Conduct antenna pattern measurements, including far-field and near-field measurements, beam pattern verification, and antenna gain evaluations.
  • Perform outdoor range propagation experiments and operational stress assessments.
  • Evaluate RF front ends, antennas, and mixed-signal architectures; troubleshoot complex hardware and analyze empirical test data to optimize wireless systems.
