About The Position
Join the Bureau of Audits, Pittsburgh Regional Office as a Revenue Tax Auditor and help support fair and accurate tax practices across Pennsylvania. Requirements
- Successful completion of the Revenue Tax Auditor Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of professional accounting or auditing experience and a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 15 college credits in accounting, tax, or auditing; or Eligibility to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Lawrence, Butler, Armstrong, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Beaver, Washington, Greene, or Fayette County before the date of hire.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment due to access to Federal Tax Information (FTI).
Responsibilities
- Review taxpayer history and plan audit steps
- Examine books and financial documents to determine tax accuracy
- Inspect facilities and meet with representatives to verify operations
- Draft clear narratives, schedules, and reports that explain findings
- Provide guidance to improve future tax reporting practices
- Share knowledge with other auditors during on-the-job instruction
