About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and train world-class best practices in pre-billing, billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions in the home health and hospice industry. This role supports the accounts receivable functions under the supervision of the Learning and Development Leader. The specialist will train, monitor, and update policies and procedures surrounding the revenue cycle, accounts receivable, and current government regulations for home health and hospice. They will also assist agencies in developing and using accounting policies and procedures, fostering strong inter-departmental rapport to emphasize accurate reporting. A key aspect of this role is partnering with RC Portfolio Leaders to create training opportunities that enhance the impact of portfolios and the company, and to provide training to Billers and Billing Managers. The role involves utilizing ticketing software to track support/education needs, developing reporting metrics to identify agencies needing additional support, and creating plans with leadership to improve field results. This position pioneers the creation of best practices for the Service Center and Field, ensuring they are easy to understand and adopt. It also establishes and maintains positive, collaborative working relationships with AR Service Center Resources, Billers/Billing Managers, other RC Portfolio Leaders, and payers. The specialist must maintain a comprehensive understanding of payor contracts, ensure agencies are billing and collecting according to contract provisions, and adjust training accordingly. Protecting patient and agency information confidentiality through effective controls and collaboration with billing operations is also crucial.

Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience in health care billing and collections management
  • Experience in home health and/or hospice operations
  • Demonstrated experience in LMS development with configuration skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and demonstrate effective communication, negotiation, and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage detailed information accurately.
  • Ability to work tactfully and collaboratively with colleagues, peers, service center personnel, referral sources, and payers.
  • Demonstrates ingenuity, autonomy, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
  • Experience with in Home Care Home Base, Waystar, Availity, Medicare Administration Contractors (MACs) portals, etc., with the ability to train staff in software systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the accounts receivable functions under the supervision of the Learning and Development Leader.
  • Train, monitor, and update the policies and procedures surrounding the revenue cycle, accounts receivable, and current government regulations for home health and hospice.
  • Assist agencies in the development and use of accounting policies and procedures, and establish a great rapport in and between departments so that each can realize the importance of accurate reporting procedures.
  • Partner with RC Portfolio Leaders to develop training opportunities for staff, further enhancing the impact of the portfolios and the company.
  • Partner with Executive Directors and/or RC Portfolio Leaders to provide training to Billers and Billing Managers.
  • Utilize ticketing software to track trends of support/education needs.
  • Develop and maintain reporting metrics to identify agencies that need additional support through training and education—developing plans with EDs and RCPLs to enhance the field results.
  • Pioneer the creation of best practices for Service Center and Field in a manner that is easy to understand and adopt into practice.
  • Create methods that are engaging and easy to absorb.
  • Establish and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with AR Service Center Resources, Billers/Billing Managers, other RC Portfolio Leaders, and payors.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of payor contracts and ensures that agencies are billing and collecting according to contract provisions, and adjusts training courses accordingly.
  • Protect the confidentiality of patient and agency information through effective controls and combined efforts with billing operations.
