About The Position

Helping patients navigate healthcare costs can be one of the most meaningful ways to impact their overall care experience. As a Financial Counselor, you will serve as a trusted resource for patients and families, providing guidance, support, and access to financial assistance programs that help remove barriers to care. This role combines patient advocacy, financial counseling, and revenue cycle expertise in a position that directly contributes to both patient satisfaction and operational success. You'll join a collaborative team dedicated to making the financial side of healthcare easier to understand while helping patients access the resources they need. As a Financial Counselor, you will play a key role in assisting patients through the financial assistance and eligibility process while supporting important revenue cycle operations. This is a highly visible position that requires compassion, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. A typical day may include meeting with patients, reviewing financial assistance applications, answering questions regarding eligibility and available resources, managing assigned work queues, and collaborating with colleagues across patient financial services. Success in this role comes from building strong patient relationships, demonstrating empathy during challenging situations, and becoming a trusted expert in financial assistance programs and processes.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • 4 years relevant experience in customer service and extensive use of desktop computers and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with patients to assist with financial assistance applications and eligibility determination.
  • Guide patients through available financial assistance programs and resources.
  • Process applications accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Manage assigned work queues and account follow-up activities.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
  • Support revenue cycle processes that contribute to appropriate reimbursement and account resolution.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards while navigating evolving workflows and processes.
  • Partner with team members to promote a positive patient experience and successful outcomes.
