About The Position

This position is responsible for interpreting, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies, procedures, ordinances, and codes pertaining to the Treasurer's Office. The role involves conferring with management regarding legal actions, supervising and training revenue collection specialists, and coordinating daily operations of the collections support team. The supervisor will also assist in preparing and distributing liens, composing collection-related documents, and performing other required duties. The shift is Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and the work location is the Treasurer's Office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years of responsible experience in collecting delinquent accounts
  • One year of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Considerable knowledge of basic laws, regulations and codes relating to the legal collection of funds
  • Considerable knowledge of investigative processes necessary in collections of delinquent accounts
  • Considerable knowledge of methods and techniques used in determining financial assets and in effecting revenue collections
  • Ability to explain and apply laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the legal collection of funds
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals under a variety of circumstances
  • Ability to prepare and maintain clear and accurate records, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with taxpayers, the public, staff, and others contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to use an automated collection system
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate the work of staff

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, monitor, and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, procedures or processes, ordinances and codes pertaining to the Treasurer’s Office.
  • Confer with manager regarding any legal actions advised, under consideration, planned or in process and take actions as directed.
  • Supervise, assign, review, train, evaluate, and participate in the work of revenue collection specialists responsible for assisting in collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the collections support team to include planning, implementing, and monitoring collection strategies to maximize utilization of resources, handling the more difficult or complex collection activities or escalated customer service issues, and monitoring service quality.
  • Assist in the process of preparing and distributing applicable liens.
  • Interpret, monitor, and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, procedures or processes, ordinances and codes pertaining to taxes, collections, and lien processes.
  • Compose, prepare or generate a variety of collection-related information, statistics, correspondence, forms sensitive or legal documents, reports and notices.
  • Perform other work as required.
