The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of client revenue recognition and maintaining accurate and timely revenue reporting. This role partners cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Accounts Payable, FP&A, and Legal to evaluate contracts and ensure proper accounting treatment. The position will also support the monthly close, audit processes, and development of revenue-related policies and procedures. This position will require you to work in the Corporate Headquarters office located in Overland Park, KS. This is not a remote or hybrid role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to revenue accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite preferred
  • Strong understanding of complex revenue arrangements (e.g., service contracts, leases, aviation-related revenue streams)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor team members
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the revenue close process as part of the monthly close cycle, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Ensure monthly owner statement invoices are sent timely with collections follow-up based on contractual payment terms
  • Prepare year end budgets to those owners that request them
  • Perform month-end revenue accrual entries and unbilled clearing account reconciliations
  • Review and interpret customer contracts to determine proper revenue recognition and owner statement invoicing treatment
  • Manage and maintain revenue-related accounts, including deferred revenue, contract assets, and unbilled receivables
  • Oversee general ledger activity related to revenue and perform account reconciliations
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, and Legal to evaluate contract structures and revenue/invoicing implications
  • Oversee Charter leaseback calculation to owner statements for those clients that charter
  • Support the Director of Client Accounting in ensuring a clean and timely year-end audit, including preparation of revenue-related audit schedules
  • Develop, document, and maintain revenue accounting close, owner statement preparation, distribution, and collection escalation processes
  • Perform financial tail margin reporting and support business decision-making
  • Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements related to revenue accounting and owner invoicing processes
  • Supervise, train, and mentor assigned accounting staff, including performance management
  • Advise accounting staff on non-routine or complex revenue transactions
  • Assist with system implementations and enhancements (e.g., NetSuite, Expense Pulse, and revenue subledgers)
  • Support the Director of Client Accounting with special projects and provide backup on key responsibilities as needed
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required
