About The Position

The Returns Specialist is responsible for processing returned merchandise, evaluating product condition, supporting customers and dealers, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role ensures returned products are received, inspected, documented, repaired when appropriate, and processed efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in returns processing, warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping/receiving, or customer service preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management systems or ERP software is preferred.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience navigating databases and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to learn technical product specifications and company policies.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while remaining self-directed.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and accurately process daily returned merchandise.
  • Evaluate returned products for defects, damage, warranty eligibility, and compliance with company quality standards.
  • Process returns, exchanges, credits, and inventory updates using internal systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of return transactions, customer information, and product condition.
  • Respond to customer and dealer inquiries regarding returns via phone and email in a professional and timely manner.
  • Repackage merchandise for resale or redistribution by re-boxing, labeling, and preparing products for shipment.
  • Perform minor repairs on helmets and other safety products following established procedures.
  • Transfer inventory between warehouse locations and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Assist with annual dealer return programs, including processing palletized shipments and coordinating inbound returns.
  • Generate shipping labels for outbound shipments and return labels for inbound merchandise.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, elevator lifts, bailers, and other material-handling equipment, in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Simpson Race Products and related safety equipment to support customers effectively.
  • Meet daily productivity, quality, and accuracy goals while working with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
