About The Position

The Summer Dean serves as the program director and primary leader of an individual Concordia Language Village, with overall responsibility for the leadership and operation of its summer program. The Dean works with academic-year program leaders, participates in the Village Leadership Council, and partners with the Program Director and CLV administrative team. The position combines year-round planning and preparation with hands-on leadership during the summer season. Co-dean arrangements may be considered, with reduced compensation for each position in a co-dean arrangement. The general employment period is January through August. January through June accounts for 20% of salary and is spent hiring summer staff and planning summer programs. The Dean is in residence in Bemidji during the summer season. The stated base salary is $940 per week for three weeks in residence, with the possibility of an additional two weeks; salary may increase based on education and experience. The total salary for the three in-residence weeks is spread across approximately January through the end of the residential program. Virtual Village Leadership Councils are compensated at $150 each for full attendance. This posting is exclusively for people previously employed by Concordia Language Villages as a Program Leader (Dean) and eligible to return. Applications do not guarantee reappointment; reappointments depend on program needs, performance history, and institutional approval. Returning deans reapply annually.
