About The Position

Building Services 32BJ Benefit Funds (“the Funds”) is the umbrella organization responsible for administering Health, Pension, Retirement Savings, Training, and Legal Services benefits to over 100,000 SEIU 32BJ members. The Funds oversees and manages $9 billion of dollars in assets, which are made up of many, varied and complex funds. The dollars come from a number of sources, including the property owners who pay into the funds on behalf of their employees, and as such, requires those who oversee and manage the money to be highly skilled financial management people. We use cutting edge technology such as: M365, Dynamics 365 CRM, Dynamics 365 F&O, Azure, AWS, SQL, Snowflake, QlikView, and more. Under the supervision of the Retirement Services Supervisor, the Analyst II is responsible for processing pension calculations including Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), service research using Social Security data, and Supplemental Retirement Savings Plan (SRSP) administration. The Analyst II should be capable of conducting the following specific processes: Process pension and death benefit calculations and applications Pension benefit estimates Disability pension eligibility review, calculations and applications Prior service transcription and research Review work history disputes RMD calculations Administration of SRSP (401(k)) Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO) Processing Corrections to pension overpayment and underpayment issues Process banking transactions including stop-payments, reissue and replacement of checks and reconciliations Process ACH transfers and ACH transfer changes Process IRS tax levy notices Handle escalated Compliance Department requests

Requirements

  • Knowledge of pension calculations
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft office programs, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Detailed oriented with strong ability to multitask
  • Strong oral and written interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Ability to effectively operate in a fast -paced work environment
  • Two years' pension administration experience required

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred!

Responsibilities

  • Determine pension eligibility in compliance with plan documents for members, spouses and beneficiaries
  • Analyze applications for completeness/accuracy, approval/denial; draft follow-up correspondence as needed; manage member files in a timely manner
  • Review "prior service" records and conduct employment research as necessary
  • Implement and test system updates
  • Calculate adjustments to pension amounts including overpayments
  • Assure compliance with IRS tax levy notices
  • Draft member related correspondence
  • Respond to and resolve open/escalated CRM tickets in a timely manner
  • Assist in staff training
  • Special projects as assigned by management
