About The Position

This position serves as section supervisor of the Costs/Transfers/Estimates and Legal Review Section of the Retirement Department supervising four Retirement Benefit Analysts in activities relating to verification and updating of member records, retirement benefit estimates, purchases of service credit and transfers of service credit from other Louisiana Retirement Systems overseeing the determination of eligibility and the application of complex formulas.

Requirements

  • Seven years of experience in employee benefits; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus four years of experience in employee benefits; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in employee benefits; OR A Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation plus three years of experience in employee benefits.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate workflow for four benefits analysts.
  • Review and approve cost computations covering the gaining of additional retirement credit.
  • Interpret retirement provisions of Title 11 of the LA Revised Statues and board policies.
  • Explain and apply eligibility and service credit provisions for multiple systems.
