About The Position

KMRG, LLC (KMRG) is seeking a Benefits & Retirement Administrator to join their team and provide HR operational support to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Human Capital Management Office (HCMO) in Washington, DC. In this role, you will support the FTC’s day-to-day HR operations, focusing on employee benefits and retirement services, while also assisting with HR processing and staffing needs. This position is ideal for a federal HR professional who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable handling sensitive information, and capable of supporting both benefits and HR processing requirements.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in federal HR processing or benefits
Ability to process forms, maintain records, calculate retirement service, and use FPPS and benefits systems
Experience with federal benefits and retirement administration or federal HR processing
Ability to review and process personnel, payroll, and benefits forms accurately and within required timeframes
Ability to maintain complete and accurate HR, benefits, and personnel records
Hands-on FPPS experience is preferred; comparable federal payroll or personnel system experience will be considered
Ability to provide professional customer service and respond to employee and management inquiries
Ability to protect personally identifiable information and other sensitive FTC information
Must meet FTC background investigation, fingerprinting, and suitability requirements
Must complete required pre-employment security screening and forms
Must complete FTC Security and Privacy Awareness Training when using agency systems

Nice To Haves

Hands-on FPPS experience is preferred; comparable federal payroll or personnel system experience will be considered

Responsibilities

Promote and support wellness and work-life programs
Triage incoming benefits inquiries and direct complex matters to FTC Benefits Specialists
Support Open Season activities, seminars, and workforce engagement events
Provide basic benefits counseling to employees; in-depth counseling is performed by FTC Benefits Specialists
Review and process FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, and related benefits forms
Communicate with OPM, DFAS, insurance carriers, payroll providers, and other agencies as necessary
Request military service documentation and provide deposit and redeposit guidance using FTC calculation tools
Calculate redeposit service, FICA, and military deposits
Compile and verify employee service histories for retirement purposes
Independently prepare retirement packages with oversight from the Benefits Officer
Deliver benefits-related briefings during new-hire orientation
Maintain and update benefits-related systems, including e-Comp, FHR Navigator, and FPPS
Maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of benefits activities
Code and process personnel and payroll actions in FPPS within required timeframes
Prepare pre-appointment packages and assist with new-hire in-processing
Extend tentative and official job offers as directed
Review personnel and payroll forms for accuracy and completeness
Request, upload, and maintain eOPF records and convert paper files to electronic records
Audit personnel records to ensure accuracy and policy compliance
Process leave transfers for incoming and current employees
Provide customer service regarding HR systems, processes, and procedures
Identify and correct HR processing errors
Track commemorative awards and maintain award-related files and logs
Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation
Respond promptly to employee and management inquiries
Maintain complete documentation of HR processing activities
Deliver high-quality, accurate, and timely support across assigned duties
Adhere to applicable federal regulations, agency policies, and privacy and PII requirements
Provide courteous, professional customer service to employees, managers, and stakeholders
Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready documentation for assigned activities
Collaborate with HCMO personnel and escalate complex issues appropriately
Remain flexible in shifting between benefits and HR processing work based on workload demand
Use Government systems, tools, and templates in accordance with provided guidance
Incorporate Government comments into draft and final work products within 5 business days of receipt
Support weekly/bi-weekly activity updates and updated SOPs or workflows as requested
